The Scorpion and the Caterpillar is about the loss and transformation
that can occur in our lives. On March 27th, my son Tarik became an angel in
heaven. Tarik was a wonderful writer and storyteller and it was through his eyes
I was able to write this book. His love of nature and seeing all that is around
us each day was an inspiration to me.
As I looked at the lives of scorpions and caterpillars I realized that loss is
as much a part of life as birth. For as we enter this world through birth we
leave a place from which we came, which in a sense is our first loss.
Once I started to think about my loss, I found myself exploring and asking
“Why?” I found some answers that proved to be satisfying but some questions
I hope this book will recapture your childlike openness to explore the
possibility that life and love are eternal.
